Doctoral degree and supervision

All doctoral candidates working on a research project at the Comprehensive Pneumology Center (CPC) participate in the training program (MD students: 1 year, PhD students: 3 years).

Doctoral degrees are awarded by the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) or Technical University Munich (TUM).

Students aiming for a degree in translational lung research can obtain a Ph.D. in Medical Research as part of the Munich Medical Research School (MMRS) by participating in a structured PhD program such as the CPC Research School.

The CPC Research School program is part of the Helmholtz Graduate School Environmental Health - HELENA. CPC doctoral students therefore benefit from further support and education opportunities offered by HELENA.

All students are mentored by a supervisor at the CPC, who is working with the students on their scientific project and career development plan. Additionally, students are supported by an individual Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) and benefit from annual TAC meetings.
