School has started - not just for many kids out there, also for the new MD and PhD students here at the CPC in Großhadern. The official program was kicked-off with two days of seminars about the lung including lung function, lung diseases, the immune system of the lung, and lung anatomy. The talks were all prepared and given by senior Research School students. We received a lot of information, for some probably very new, for some a great repetition, but for sure a good basis for all of us studying the lung - and of course also a great preparation for the entrance exam, which will be in October. The two days of introductory seminars ended with a nice Get-together in a beer garden with lots of Bavarian food, a ton of the best Kaiserschmarrn (a traditional Bavarian dessert), and beer (obviously). The next big item on the agenda will be the methods seminars, where the new MD and PhD students present the most significant biomedical methods and technologies, which they will mostly use within the framework of their projects.
