On November 9th and 10th, 2023, the CPC Research School Class of 2021 presented their projects and discussed their research together with faculty members during an In-House Retreat at the CPC Großhadern. Keynote presentations were given by Alexander Dietrich (Walther-Straub-Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, LMU; “TRP channels in lung disease”) and Carola Voss (LHI; “Hoops and Loops – my early career phase in science”). Everyone came together for a dinner at Erdinger Weißbräu on the first day.

The second official EHLRS Retreat took place in July 2023. Eleven doctoral researchers (our ‘Class of 2022’), Research School Management, and Institute Representatives traveled to Herrsching am Ammersee for scientific discussions and networking. Keynote speakers were LMU-Professor Dr. Olivia Merkel (LMU; ‘’New Approaches for Therapeutic Pulmonary RNA Delivery“) as well as Dr. Siegfried Ussar (IDO) in his role as Helmholtz Munich Ombudsperson (‘’Ombudspersons: Guardians of Sanity in the Research Jungle”). 

In November 2022, 13 senior doctoral researchers, Research School Management, Faculty, and Institute Representatives came together for two days of scientific presentations, discussions, networking, and improving the EHLRS curriculum in Herrsching am Ammersee. As further highlights, two excellent keynote lectures were given by Dr. Andreas Fleischmann ('Modern University Teaching') from TUM ProLehre as well as by PD Dr. Milena Sokolowska ('Airway epithelium upon allergic and viral inflammation') from the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research.
